After you land at the airport, you’ll be picked up by one of our travel associates at Gifted African Adventures. From there, a transfer to the accommodation will be provided. During the evening an orientation session will be held to make sure you’re properly equipped for the climb.

You’ll leave early in the morning from your accommodation and drive to the Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. After clearing your permits and meeting up with the crew you’ll set off on your climb. You’ll traverse the Ngare Nanyunkie River and continue the climb through the montane forest. Expect sightings of several primates and birds here. The overnight stay will be at Miriakamba Hut.

After breakfast, you’ll continue the climb to Saddle Hut. The rainforest zone will give way to the heath and moorland zone with large trees. The trail offers some of the most panoramic views. Upon reaching the Saddle Hut, you can climb the Little Meru Peak, which will further boost your acclimatization.

After the midnight wake-up call, you’ll start hiking to Meru Peak. You should be well prepared for a tough and challenging climb, especially through Rhino Point and Cobra Point. You’ll reach Meru Peak by sunrise where you’ll be welcomed by a visual delight – thrilling panoramic sceneries and an incredible sunrise. After the summit time, you’ll descend to Miriakamba Hut for a hot lunch, dinner and an overnight stay.

After the morning breakfast, you’ll hike down to the Momella Gate.
